The conference was organized by the Research Group Algebraic Topology and Group Theory of the K. U. Leuven Campus Kortrijk and conceived by a scientific committee consisting of Prof. Frank De Clerck (Ghent University), Prof. Yves Félix (Univ. Catholique Louvain-la-Neuve), William Goldman (Univ. of Maryland), Fritz Grunewald (Univ. Düsseldorf), Paul Igodt (K.U.Leuven) and Alain Valette (Univ. de Neuchâtel)
